A narrare dettagliatamente la storia di Bane è stato [[Drew Karpyshyn]], pubblicando fra il 2006 e il 2009 una trilogia di libri su di lui: ''[[Darth Bane: Path of Destruction]]'', ''[[Darth Bane: Rule of Two]]'' e ''[[Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil]]''. Karpyshyn specifica anche l'origine del nome, in quanto ''bane'' in inglese significa "rovina": a chiamarlo così era il padre, [[Hurst]], che lo considerava responsabile della morte della madre durante il parto. Successivamente Bane avrebbe fatto proprio questo nome, che in passato l'aveva fatto soffrire, per denotare la sua affiliazione alle tenebre.
